Lawrence Orbe wasn't driven to the Las Vegas strip for a game of blackjack or poker. He wasn't looking to win big. He didn't come for the strippers or outrageous forms of live entertainment.
Orbe, 64, checked into the exclusive Four Seasons Hotel on March 11 after commuting by car from his condominium in Montecito, Calif.
Each year desperate men and women make the pilgrimage to the gambling mecca to kill themselves. Once a month or more, a visitor commits suicide in this location, according to Clark County Coroner records dating to October 1998.
