Bet-limit legislation: Pair dealt, but legislators fold - 2004-02-08
With the Washington State Gambling Commission scheduled to convene Thursday to contemplate doubling the $100 maximum bet limit at house-banked card rooms, a group of lawmakers wanted to deliver a message to commissioners: Think long and hard.

Though there appear to be sufficient votes on the five-voting-member commission to bolster the maximum wagers for hands of blackjack and other card games to $200, Parker stated that the commission will likely vote to postpone action for the third consecutive meeting.

Poker with plenty of power - 2004-02-08
We were doing homework. Barry was playing poker.
Thirteen years old and the child was sweeping in five-card draw and seven-card stud.

At the age of 24 or so, he was traveling around the world playing blackjack and poker and driving a Jaguar. He was in no hurry to complete grad school.
One day, his mother asked, "Where do you get the money?"
"Mom," Barry answered, "I'm a professional poker player."
