In a single glancing blow, Carcieri empasized, yet again, his opposition to casino gambling, saying Rhode Island is currently "too dependent on gambling revenue."
That's where this issue should stay. We should choose, for ourselves, what sort of gambling we want, and where we want it, and who should manage it. Maybe some people would rather put their money down on poker, baccarat, blackjack. Maybe Rhode Islanders would rather have a real destination resort rather than going to Lincoln Park and Newport to incessantly pull one-armed bandits.
