A new resort-style casino in the works for Narragansett tribe - 2004-02-05
The town of West Warwick and the Narragansett Indians have been unsuccessful in their efforts to put a vote for a casino on a statewide ballot, but this time, Rep. Timothy Williamson states, "the stars are in alignment, and the planets are, too."
The Narragansetts and Harrah's want to construct a $500 million resort and entertainment venue with a 1,000-room hotel and 3,500 gaming stations. A gaming station is a place where bets can be made, either a slot machine or a seat at one of the table games like blackjack or roulette.
