Socialite Paris Hilton enjoys a good gamble in Las Vegas, Nevada, because if she wins big she treats herself to new pets.

The hotel heiress confesses she's a sucker for one exotic pet shop in Sin City, where she has regularly spent her winnings.

She reveals, "I was once in Vegas playing blackjack and won about $10,000 (GBP5,880). I went to this exotic pet place and bought a baby goat and two ferrets and a serval cat."

Former Sen. O'Connell passes on in Florida at 80 - 2004-02-02
Former state Sen. Frank J. O'Connell Jr., an advocate of growth in the Wyoming Valley for over 35 years and a major force behind the Cross-Valley Expressway, died Saturday in Florida. He was 80.

As a senator, he halted the introduction of slot machines in Pennsylvania in 1983. But in 1985, he signed a bill that permitted blackjack games in bars - a bill later repealed by fellow legislators.
