Bishop issues caution regarding gambling plans - 2004-02-13
Britain could be transforming into a society populated by millions of people incapable of resisting the gambling urge, a Northern bishop fears. It would therefore be irrational to swamp the country with casinos, cautions the Assistant Bishop of Newcastle, the Rt Rev Paul Richardson.
Such a facility would give people the chance “to win -- or lose -- a fortune playing blackjack or roulette,” explains Church of England Newspaper columnist Bishop Richardson.
