Best Soup In Town: Bellingham man's recipe is sold as tribute to late wife - 2004-02-13
At 5:30 a.m. yesterday Fred Dehmer started preparing the meat and vegetables for a soup he would offer at Jo-Anne's Restaurant on Rte. 140 for lunch that day.

The attention is centered on a picture of Gail wearing the ball gown she wore to the town's 1969 bicentennial. The rest of the painting is a collage of the couple's life they've spent with one another. The figures include blackjack and bingo, their vacation home in the Berkshires, their son and a couple dancing.

Tribe generates major dollars without port's assistance - 2004-02-13
Call me crazy, but I don't want public money paying the Puyallup Tribe of Indians for its gambling losses at the Emerald Queen Casino.
But the Port of Tacoma commissioners voted 5-0 this week to do this very thing.

Personally, I enjoy playing blackjack and shoot craps for entertainment on infreguent trips to Las Vegas or Reno. I just don't want to make a routine of gambling around home.
