Gambling Earnings Indicate Drop For Nevada Casinos - 2004-02-12
Despite the economic revival and a return of tourists, December was not a very fortunate month for Nevada's casinos, data made public Wednesday by the Nevada Control Board showed.
Control board statistical analyst Frank Streshley stated that the soft performance was "all from the game side, including a slight decline in baccarat. Other games were mixed."

He claimed slot performance increased slightlycompared to table games like keno, baccarat and blackjack, while there was a major decline in the sports pool win, down 67 percent, or $12 million, from the previous year.

Korean Experts Insist Treat Gambling Addiction As Sickness - 2004-02-12
Pali, pali, hurry and hustle encompass a dominant opinion in Korean society, and this is one of the reasons 4.1 percent of the adult population is addicted to gambling. Two Seoul psychiatrists have pinned gambling on a nationwide obsession to get rich quick and have started to treat gambling addiction as a sickness.

A 1999 study of 700 adults discovered that 9.3 percent were addicted to horseracing. Other gambling joys here feature bicycle racing, boat racing, Lotto, illegal game rooms and card games like baccarat, blackjack, go-stop and poker.
