Panel decides to keep video gambling - 2004-02-12
A project to repeal video gambling was disallowed Wednesday by a South Dakota House committee.
The State Affairs Committee voted 9-4 to kill the bill after foes noted that voters statewide have three times rejected to omit video lottery.
The state and video lottery businesses share the money players lose in the machines, which feature poker, blackjack, keno and bingo games. The amount of player losses were $212.2 million in the budget year concluding last June, so the state and businesses received $106.1 million each.
