If it meant coming back to baseball, Pete Rose stated that he would meet all conditions.

He would never again enter a casino, if that's what commissioner Bud Selig commanded. He never again play blackjack or poker. He would never again bet on football or basketball. Baseball? For the last 14 1/2 years, Rose has been living with the consequences of gambling won baseball, especially the Cincinnati Reds team he was managing in 1987.

Implication Casino May Endanger Providence, R.I.-Area Gaming Sites - 2004-02-10
In an internal letter two years ago, Harrah's Entertainment recognized that the Foxwoods-style casino it wants to construct in West Warwick might cut into business at Lincoln Park and Newport Grand Jai Alai.

The January 2002 memo says Lincoln Park would likely bounce back, but it "could be hurt initially . . . as well as long-term if gamers prefer the new casino's amenities and availability of table games (craps, blackjack and other card games)."
