Morgan Jones is no novice when it comes to posh casinos and big-money lures of Las Vegas, but sometimes he would prefer to gamble in Vero Beach.

"I don't really see what the whole fuss is about. It's not like we're playing blackjack or roulette with chips," stated Margie Anderson, 71, of Vero Beach, who was sitting at the machines at Hit It Big recently.

In his article based on an Elderhostel trip to Las Vegas, "A Disbeliever on the Strip'' (Dec. 28), Alan S. Oser criticized a large gentleman taking space at a blackjack table.

I learned, I enjoyed, I engaged with my fellow Elderhostelers and can now deal blackjack, observe baccarat and comprehend what is happening and stay away from the spinning wheels that produce such a bonanza for the casino owners.
