This East Coast gambling mecca once had the market pinned down on slot machines, blackjack tables and roulette parlors. For over 15 years, it was as if it was the only game in town.

Then Connecticut launched two casinos and Delaware included slot machines at racetracks, biting away at Atlantic City's core constituency of day-tripping seniors from the Northeast.
