Arizona make $6.7 mil as share of tribes' gambling profits - 2004-01-30
Arizona Indian tribes gave $6.7 million of their gambling profits to the state for the quarter that ended Dec. 31, the state Department of Gaming reported Friday.

The measure, authorized by voters in 2002, permitted tribes to expand gambling and add Nevada-style blackjack. In return, the tribes contribute up to 8 percent of their gambling proceeds to the state.

Our bus rests near the ship terminal in Southampton at 2:30 p.m. following a soggy drive from London. The bright red smokestack of the Queen Mary 2, the world's newest and biggest ocean liner, stares down at us, roughly 23 stories high.

Later, my husband, my brother, my cousin's husband and I go down to Deck 2, at sea level, to try out a blackjack table in the casino and watch the waves. By the time we head back to our cabin at 1:30 a.m. we can't walk a straight line.
