Kim Beom-hoon was viewed as a trailblazer when he went into the Internet gambling business with North Korea. It seemed the perfect tactic to bridge a 50-year divide and open up one of the world's most alienated countries.

Jupae (from the North Korean word for card game) would introduce netizens worldwide to play poker, blackjack and purchase cyber-lottery tickets. North Koreans would be forbidden, not that over a handful even own computers or cash to wager.
