Kim Beom-hoon was seen as a trailblazer when he went into the Internet gambling industry with North Korea. It appeared to be the perfect way to close a 50-year divide and open up one of the world's most isolated countries.
Jupae (from the North Korean word for card game) would invite netizens worldwide to enjoy a game of poker, blackjack and purchase cyber-lottery tickets. North Koreans would be excluded, not that more than a handful even have computers or money to gamble.
