Tribes criticize proposed measure permitting non-Indian slot machines - 2004-01-15
Tribal leaders, alarmed at a movement to end their nationwide monopoly on lucrative slot-machine gambling, state that they are determined to fight a proposed ballot measure that would add the one-armed bandits to race tracks and non-Indian card clubs.
The initiative's defenders also include operators of card clubs, where games such as poker and blackjack are permitted, but not slot machines.
