Detroit casinos propose promise, trouble - 2004-01-13
A few weeks following the opening of Greektown casino in this blighted city's downtown, a sign was hung across the street on a door to the Second Baptist Church, the oldest black church in Michigan: "Gamblers Anonymous: Open meeting every Monday."
She was so "caught up in the rapture" of attempting to win back her blackjack losses, she shared, that she placed her 15-year-old son in her mother's custody and took out a loan against her house.
