Preparing for the tax man - 2004-01-12
Since last New Year's toddy or 'nog has expired, many people's thoughts are on taxes and settling up with Uncle Sam and New York for '03's obligation.

"You also need to tell your accountant if you had any winnings at a Canadian casino. Don't take the blackjack dealer's advice that there's no tax on it," he alerts.

Casino would trade bingo for slots - 2004-01-12
The Ho-Chunk Nation's proposal to extend a bingo hall into a casino would exchange the 1,200-seat bingo hall for hundreds of slot machines.

Dane County locals will vote in a Feb. 17 election on expanded gambling at DeJope Bingo Hall, featuring games such as slot machines, blackjack, poker and roulette.

Eventually, table games such as blackjack and poker might be included, Cleveland reported, but the first expansion will be solely slot machines.
